The TDA Educational Scholarship Program
School fees can be prohibitively expensive for many Solomon Islander families, and many TDA members struggle to send their children to school. TDA aims to help as many children as possible to get a good education, and to support the communities who are supporting conservation.
The Tetepare Descendants' Association runs a successful scholarship program, providing children with scholarships to attend local schools.
In the wider TDA community, more than 170 children have benefited from educational scholarships funded by donors since 2005. The number of scholarships offered is growing every year, as the conservation project expands. Two types of scholarship are offered, secondary school scholarships and vocational/tertiary scholarships (including nursing and teaching). Any TDA member can apply for a scholarship and scholarships are awarded based on academic merit and greatest need.
TDA is raising money to provide more scholarship to local children. This is a great way to help local children and families in need, and encourage TDA members to conserve Tetepare. Anyone can contribute to the TDA scholarship fund and know that all the money goes directly to improving educational standards in the Solomon Islands. Donations of any amount are welcome.
